Membrane switch keypads

Membrane switch keypads are thin, integrated HMI solutions designed for applications where space efficiency, sealing and functional integration are key requirements. The keypad is constructed from printed and laminated layers that combine graphics, tactility, electrical functions, lighting and protection in a compact assembly. This approach allows many functions to be defined without mechanical parts, providing high design flexibility within a controlled and sealed structure.

Tactile response can be adapted using embossing, metal domes or polydomes, depending on actuation requirements, sound level and expected lifetime. The front layer defines the visual appearance through artwork, surface textures and effects such as dead-front symbols or tinted display windows. Backlighting, ESD protection and optical control can be integrated directly into the layer stack.

Membrane switch keypads are often developed as part of a larger HMI assembly. They can be combined with displays, PCBs or flex circuits and delivered as a ready-to-install control interface. This makes them well suited for industrial equipment, medical devices and electronic control systems where a thin, sealed and integrated HMI solution is preferred.
