Högskolan i Halmstad, Elektronikcentrum
About us
The Electronics Center in Halmstad (ECH) is, in addition to a collaborative arena for electronics development, also an EMC test chamber where companies can test their products for more efficient product development. ECH has a clear vision where academia, the public and private sectors form a regional knowledge and resource network. The network focuses on developing solutions to common technology challenges, with a particular emphasis on IoT and wireless communication. ECH enables practical collaboration, conducts education in electronics and supports research – all to promote the possibilities of creating products and innovations for the future.
This year we are exhibiting with the student-run HUST, Halmstad University Solar Team.

Opportunities for EMC testing and development in collaboration with research engineers, students and researchers
Halmstad University and regional companies created Electronics Centre in Halmstad (ECH) to promote innovation, education and research in electronics. It’s a strategic effort to meet the challenges of digitalisation when the introduction of integrated electronics in traditional products requires a large transformation of competence, and new knowledge areas must be integrated into old organisations. ECH offers resources like an advanced electronic laboratory, prototyping facilities and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test facilities, and is also a venue for innovation, education and research in electronics.

The Halmstad University Solar team, HUST
Halmstad University Solar team is a student-run, non-profit organization that works towards a sustainable future. The project consists of designing and building a solar-powered electric car that will then participate in the World Solar Challenge, which is held every two years in Australia. There, HUST competes against other students from around 35 different countries around the world. The race consists of driving from Darwin in the north to Adelaide in the south, which is a distance of over 300 miles, using only solar energy.

The Halmstad University Solar team - World Solar Challenge
The HUST team was in Australia in October 2023 to participate in the World Solar Challenge. They first spent 3 weeks at Hidden Valley Racetrack and then drove across Australia for 7 days, an incredible experience. The last event HUST participated in was at SpeedWeekend in Årsunda, where we set a world record for a solar-powered electric car on ice, with an average speed of 100.94 km/h. Now we look ahead to the iLumen European Solar Challenge in Belgium in September 2024 and the World Solar Challenge in 2025. With a new team and an even more efficient solar car, the goal is to win and take a place among the giants.
